If you look closely, without damaging your eyeballs, then you can see the keywords in the drawing.
Somehow the story continues so that the guy has now hitched a ride on a drifting cloud. Hikaru is leading a marching band. This drawing is a bit more random since the focus was to illustrate particular keywords from the Inktober 2016 initiative by the awesome Jake Parker: mrjakeparker.com/inktober
The Inktober 2016 words were:
Fast, noisy, collect, hungry, sad, hidden, lost, rock, broken, jump, transport, worried, scared, tree, relax, wet, battle, escape, flight, squeeze, big, little, slow, one dozen, tired, box, creepy, burn, surprise, wreck, friend.
The guy on the cloud is one key character as is the fluffy Hikaru character who just seems to turn up doing different jobs in each scene. I’m sure he’ll eventually find his place!
I left the inking like this for now. Maybe in the future I can colour it. It’s a fun combination of sketching, detailed drawing and cartoon illustration. I love the complexity of the scene with all the telephone and electricity lines. I drew this from a photograph I took myself. It was taken from a bridge of what is probably quite an ordinary street in Kyoto. The perspective was a fun drawing work-out!
